UNDER 15s – v Winchester (away)
Tottonians U15s travelled to Winchester today, Totts beat Winchester at home a few weeks ago so they put out a team to beat us. In a tight, physical game, which was scrappy at times, Tottonians came out on top with a 28-21 win, with Austin C scoring two tries, and one apiece from Rueben W and Ashton B. Ollie T and Kai M converting two kicks each. Player of the match was Archie R for his tireless running and leading the team. Five wins from 6 now for this excellent U15s team.
UNDER 13s – v Eastleigh (home)
With a few positional changes, the rugby journey continued for Totts U13’s this Sunday at home against Eastleigh.
The game started out with some great possession and territory for Totts but they were unable to convert this into any points.
Eastleigh held strong with some great defence and tenacity to hold out Totts and also keep pushing them back into their half. Totts finally got their first try though after some great close quarter work and crashing over for a try.
The game then really opened up with both teams playing some good expensive rugby and moving the ball around the field.
Eastleigh were the next to score, which seemed to liven up Totts who then got back two quick tries in reply.
Totts were holding strong in the scrum which allowed their backs to have good possession and create some great attacking rugby but Eastleigh had the last score in the first half, for it to finish 3-2.
As per half game laws Totts made a number of changes at half time and brought on a number of players which showed their strength and depth of the squad as they kept playing with more of the same from the first half. A number of players were also moved about the team in order to develop them and keep them learning new skills!
This showed as Totts scored 8 tries in the first 12 minutes of the 2nd half, until Eastleigh deservedly got another try.
This doesn’t really do Eastleigh the justice they deserve as a number of these where break away tries going against the pressure Eastleigh was putting Totts under. Eastleigh were getting the upper hand at the ruck as Totts were not quite as linked here as previous weeks.
There was some good work from Totts though and with some great support play they got another 3 tires to round off a great victory.
There’s plenty to work on but as always we’re all so proud of the boy’s attitude on and off the pitch which makes the coaches and parents proud.
Man of the match was Sam A who had a great game, playing the first half at 10 then the 2nd half at 9. He also captained the side and scored 3 tires in the process.
