Tottonians Titans U16s played their first friendly against Trojans last Sunday, whilst being joined by New Milton and Fawley, ensuring that the side travelled with 22 players over to the Stoneham Lane ground.

The three teams warmed up well and despite only meeting 30 minutes before kick off, looked ready for the game.

The starting whistle blew and Tottonians played some very good rugby, keeping the opposition at bay for 10 minutes.  But soon Trojans showed why they were leagues above us.  Their well-drilled and confident side kept their scores high from then on.

This didn’t dampen the New Forest side as superb try saving tackles from Titan Jess plus New Milton’s Lilly and Amelia helped keep the score at bay.

When Totts did have possession, meters were made especially by captain Hettie and second row Eloise.  There was strong set piece executed as well and some tactical kicking from Fawley’s Molly in the third quarter made Trojans winning ways slightly harder.

The flexible Oliver twins made appearances from flanker to fullback, both making meters and strong tackles wherever they were on the park.

And whilst it was a tough defeat – the result didn’t really matter in the larger scale of things – their tenacity, positive attitude and love for the game meant they all left the field with huge smiles and the rugby buzz.

Some of the girls supported the club wide ‘Rugby Against Cancer’ campaign by wearing the pink, blue and white socks.

On Sunday 2nd March, all of the Titans would love your support at their home ‘Love Rugby’ events at Water Lane as a full day of girls rugby across three different age groups will be filling the pitches.  It’s not to be missed!
